NSS – National Service Scheme

 

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

 

 

National Service Scheme in IRTT

                            

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of our Institute have been functioning from 1984 with Three Units to build the social responsibilities through Teachers and Students. The first and second year students are involved in the work of campus cleaning and training programme conducted by NSS-IRTT The NSS Volunteers also involved in various activities such as Awareness on environment protection, students development programme etc.,

The NSS-IRTT cell conducting two blood donation camp per year regularly and approximately 150 units of bloods are donated by the students and staff volunteers. The well trained NSS volunteers of 50 students from each unit are selected and allowed to attend one week special camp at adopted village and school every year.

 

 

NSS SPECIAL CAMPS – Adopted Schools and villages

 

In special camp following works are carried out.

§  Cleaning work for roadside and school campus in the adopted village.

§  Whitewashing for school building

§  Blood pressure and blood group test for village people

§  Tree plantation

§  Painting for black board  in class rooms

§  Conducting games for school children and prizing

 

The main objectives of NSS are

§  Understand themselves in relation to the community

§  Understanding the problems and needs of the society and create solutions

§  Developing social and civic responsibility

§  Acquire leadership qualities and Democratic attitude
